Information for Participants
The UU Consolidation Marathon is an informal, loosely-organized event. Please don't expect road closures, port-a-potties, or too much race support (at least this year!). We'll run and walk on sidewalks for safety, and sometimes you'll have to wait at a cross-walk. Please plan and train carefully!
But if successfully stone-souped in the coming months, we hope that many of the UU communities on the route will be way-stations for hydration, food, toilets, and perhaps some volunteer medical support. See the "Supporters" tab for more on that. Many hands, as they say.
There are several ways we imagine you may participate:
Run the Full Marathon (26.2 miles)
Run about half the Marathon course: either Part 1 (strava.com), or Part 2 (strava.com)
Run with a self-organized relay team
Walk or bike any number of segments (e.g. from Winchester Unitarian to UU Medford)
If you are planning to run a full marathon, an 18 week training program should begin on January 5th! Need a training plan? Check out Hal Higdon's website (halhigdon.com).
Do you have safety concerns or advice? Email info@uumarathon.org for more conversation!
